THE SUITCASE WAS COVERED in vines, as though they were trying to hold onto it forever. She began to pull them off. Some new shoots had attempted to wedge themselves into the sides of the suitcase without success. The suitcase held firmly onto its cache.
It was light blue like the sky after a rain shower. She wiped the dust and dirt off it as best she could and placed it in front of her. She just sat there. Motionless. It was remarkably intact.
A harpy eagle circled far overhead. Below him sat a lone young woman with an unopened suitcase in the middle of a tropical wilderness, surrounded by miles and miles of trees and brush.
She was too big and wasn't moving. Instead, he chose a possum dashing through the bush. He dove as fast as the wind, extending his claws as he swooped down to claim his prey.
